Recovery for a commuter neighbourhood
Longbenton is largely residential, but each weekday it fills with people driving to work, parking near a Metro station or dropping children at school. That pattern shapes the kind of help people need. Most of our calls here are cars that won't start first thing in the morning, or cars that fail on the way home after a long day parked.
Tyne Road Rescue covers Longbenton and its neighbours, including Benton, Forest Hall and Four Lane Ends, at any time of day or night. We handle quick roadside fixes where possible and recovery when a car needs to go elsewhere.
Before you pick up the phone
A few seconds of preparation makes the call quicker and the job smoother:
- Make sure you're safe. Hazard lights on, and out of the traffic if you can.
- Work out where you are. A street name, Metro station or shop name is ideal.
- Note what happened. Warning lights, strange noises or smoke all help us understand the problem.
- Decide where the vehicle should go if it can't be fixed on the spot.
If you're in danger or stuck in a live lane, call 999 first. Then call us on 07763 706 830.
Main routes through Longbenton
Four Lane Ends is the busiest point, with its Metro and bus interchange drawing traffic from all directions. Queues build here at peak times, which can be hard on cars that are already struggling, especially with clutch, cooling or battery problems.
To the south, the A1058 Coast Road carries traffic between Newcastle and the coast at speed. To the east, routes lead out towards the A19 and the business parks around Cobalt and the Silverlink. The Freeman Hospital is a short drive south-west, and the large office sites in Longbenton add a lot of weekday cars.
The Metro stations at Longbenton, Benton and Four Lane Ends all see cars left parked for the day. Our battery jump start service is often the quickest answer when a car won't start in the evening.
Help at home in NE12
Longbenton's housing is a mix of terraces, semis and low-rise flats, many with on-street parking or shared bays. Usually there's room for a recovery truck nearby, though parked cars can make tight spots tighter in the evenings.
If your car won't start at home, tell us how it's parked and whether it's on a drive, the road or a shared parking area. We'll try to get it going where it is. If it needs a garage, we can load it and take it to one you choose, whether that's close by or across the city.
If the car is in a garage or tucked down a side path, check that the wheels turn and the handbrake releases. Cars that have been sitting for a while sometimes have brakes that stick, and knowing in advance means we can plan for it. Mention any low walls, bollards or gates between the car and the road as well.
For vans used for work, our van recovery service covers many small and medium models. Let us know if the van is loaded with tools or stock.
Price, timing and where we can take you
We always confirm the price before we set off. It depends on distance, the vehicle and the work involved. Arrival also varies with location, traffic and current workload, so we'll give you an honest estimate rather than a promise we might not keep.
We can take your vehicle home, to a garage, to a bodyshop or into storage. For longer moves see vehicle transport. We also cover neighbouring Killingworth to the north, and you can email info@tyneroadrescue.co.uk with any questions.
